While in Maui on vacation, we stumbled across a funky place called the South Shore Tiki Lounge. We had been looking for a kid friendly place that had live music good drinks and food. Amazingly we hit a homer on all 3. The drinks were great…a nice margarita! They served a thin crust pizza that was hand rolled and all the spices were fresh, not out of a jar. Our little guy, Owen was in heaven.
The musician was a local fellow named Louis Kukaua (at least that’s what his writing says). He was performing solo and was a true crowd-pleaser. Not only did he do amazing covers, his originals were bluesy and soulful all in one.
We really had fun listening and regret the fact that we’d not see him again as vacations dissolve really fast.
He is the lead singer in the band Kanoa of Gomega. We wish him well.
